How to Brew: The French Press

Method:

Discover the art of brewing coffee with our French Press method. Follow these simple steps to enjoy a flavorful cup with a satisfying body:

  1. Begin by heating at least 225g of filtered water to 99C. If you don't have a thermometer, aim for just under boiling temperature.
  2. Weigh out 15g of whole bean coffee, providing a 1:15 coffee-to-water ratio.
  3. Grind the coffee using a coarse setting, approximately 27 clicks on the Comandante grinder.
  4. Preheat the French Press by adding some hot water, then discard the water used for preheating.
  5. Add the ground coffee into the French Press.
  6. Start your timer and pour 225g of water onto the coffee bed in the French Press within 30 seconds. Give it a gentle stir, around 3 times.
  7. Cover the French Press with its lid and let it steep for an additional 3 minutes and 20 seconds.
  8. After steeping, skim off the coffee grounds that have risen to the top.
  9. Remove the French Press from the scale and slowly plunge the filter down.
  10. Decant the brewed coffee into a separate carafe or mug, ensuring no grounds are transferred. It's now ready to be enjoyed!
